A little late in updating you all with my escapades. Here are a few pics of me last week at Sandbanks Beach in Ontarioooooooooo! Mom said I was a very well behaved lady in the car & hotel but was apparently a real piece of work on the beach. Now, what the heck is a piece of work? I mean who makes up these crazy beach rules about us furry creatures only being allowed in designated 'pet' areas.

That's a leash hanging from me. Yep, I was suppose to be leashed at all times but Mom said there was no one around and let me have a bit of fun on my own!

I spent a lot of time fishing. Spent a lot of time drinking lots of Lake Ontario too!

WTF!? A fish with toes!

well, that's all for now. Mom says she's already pooped from looking at me again on the beach. We'll post again later.

Happy Mother's Day to all of you who have children that are bit hairier than others and walk on four paws! This is for the mothers who have sat up all night with sick dogs in their arms, wiping up barf laced with edible and inedible things and saying "It's okay baby, Mommy's here." Who have sat on the floor for hours on end soothing dogs who can't be comforted. This is for all the mothers who show up at work with dog hair on their suits, unexpected scratches on their wrists and poo bags in their purse, coat pocket, pants pocket and all other pockets. For all the mothers who make their own dog food and treats. And all the mothers who don't. This for the mothers who help the new mothers deal with the loss of their litter. And the mothers who help them cope when they are given new homes. This is for the mothers whose priceless art collections consist of ribbons and photos. And for all the mothers who froze their buns, sweated gallons, and swatted away bees to watch their precious prance into a ring and achieve 2nd place and then jump around as though they had won best in show.

This is for all the mothers who go to the special pet stores to collect the proper treats, food and toys no matter that it take 3 stops and 50 stoplights. This is for all the mothers who taught their dogs to sit, come and stay. And for all the mothers who opted for sit. This is for all the mothers who teach their dogs agility and obedience and actually understand that it needs to be FUN! This is for all the mothers who took their dog to the vet assuring them that there would be no needles only to be told they need a blood sample. For all the mothers whose dog has gone missing and was returned because she had the forethought to have chip put between its shoulders.

What makes a good Mother anyway? Is it patience? Compassion? Ever available treats? The ability to answer the door, hold back the dog and deal with a phone call all at the same time? Or is it in her heart? Is it the ache you feel when you walk out the door to your job every Monday through Friday knowing that 2 eyes are boring into your back? The jolt that takes you from sleep to dread when you hear the sounds of heaving at 2:00am? Years later, the guilt that won't away when you have no other choice but to put your friend down? The emotions of motherhood are universal, and so this is for you all.

For all of us... Hang in there. In the end we can only do the best we can. Tell them everyday that we love them.

Yes, we've been very naughty lately. Well, mostly my mom who has been globetrotting to warm tropical places and leaving me behind all worried! Pfffftttt! No worries, I didn't have to go to the prison barn this time. Uncle Gary took good care of me. We watched lots of hockey, and I even got a few walkies thrown in there. He's the best!!

We're still alive! Mom's got not excuse for not updating this blog! Just laziness, but she's also been super duper busy with work too. She keeps saying WHERE DOES THE TIME GO LOLA?? I don't know but I tell ya when you leave me at home alone all day and you're away for far too long making those crazy bones, I start going a little ape crazy ya know.

So, here I am this morning on a little run at the park. We didn't walk as much as we wanted to as the paths were quite icy. At least it was sunny!

You'll notice the trouble I had running in this STICKY HEAVY SNOW...Mom was sinking quite a bit too! :)

Mom & I took off in the car yesterday to our favourite park just as the storm began. Believe it or not, we were the only fools out there! It was heaven! Mom let me run off leash as no one was around.

You'll notice in the pics above that I was very busy picking out a Christmas tree. I even pulled it right out of the ground. Mom wanted nothing of it and said the 'skinny tree' was a no go! She seems to like the fluffy green smelly ones. Go figure.

Woke up to a winter wonderland today. Mom finally crawled out of bed at 10 AM after her woohoo party at work last night. Again, this year, she came home with the Santa hat and ya know what that means, eh? Pics with hat will be posted soon. Sigh!

So here I am this morning taking a bit of a sunbath outside. You'll note a tad of blood on my nose. No big deal. Just me getting a little crazy playing with ice & snow. It'll heal up, you'll see.

We use to meet up every week at the dog park, run & chase each other around until well, both us got cranky with each other. Some folks say it's a blood sistah thing or that we're too much alike. Dudes! What a day! Mom took me to that funny building again where ya know, a certain DOC likes to poke me all over the place. ARGH!

While we were in the waiting room, guess who walked in!?

Big "GP". I lost it!!! Grrrrr! Mom was a little 'traumatized' about my sudden tantrum fit about GP being in the same room as me. Sorry Mom, I just don't like 'GPs'. Ever since you left me at the prison barn. "GP" didn't stick around long, for some reason, they took him at the back of the building.

Well, finally my turn came around, and some nice tech girl fed me cookies, and took my *ahem* temperature. All was fine. They asked Mom a whole bunch of questions about me, and I just was talking a lot wanting to get out of that small room if you know what I mean.

Finally, Dr. Needle walked in. Nice enough lady, she smiled and talked a lot to me. Said I was really pretty. Then, she & Mom picked me up and stuck me on the table. Lots of laughing was going on about my weight with BIG huge smiles!

"I LOST 6 LBS"

So, I started smiling with everybody cuz it seems like it was a big deal. Mom said it was a huge deal cuz she'd been working at dieting & exercising with me since this past June. Thanks Mom. I've been starving all summer!

and then the needle came out. Bang! Before I could even say anything, the Needle lady got me right on the backside. It didn't hurt. Says I'm good to go now for another 3 years. I sure hope so!

First thing ya gotta learn is how to hold your breath under water. Yes, my friends, I can blow bubbles and check out the fishies all at the same time. The Naked Apes are always impressed with my human skill.

I'm still working on removing the weeds. Sometimes when I get really frustrated, I pull them out with my teeth and it tastes really bad. There's nothing meaty about slimy weeds.

I said to myself - "oh no, she's going to go ape crazy on me again with all the hockey this, hockey that....it can't be, it's way too soon".....but she promised that the yelling and screaming for hockey wasn't going to start before October! Phew! Anyhoo, if any of you are hockey fans out there, she said Guy was a true gentleman, looked great and came across as a little shy - HA!

I know it's been a while. Please forgive me. The human just returned home last night after an 11 day trip. To make a long story short, I ended up staying the full 11 days at the prison barn. Things never worked out with Gary (I'm super bummed about that) but Mom said the prison barn folks said I was doing so well and was a 'vrai trésor' and felt secure knowing I was safe and having fun.

Sure, I had a blast...but was a little naughty and did get a little feisty with a dude who looked like this:

but he wanted to have nothing to do with me. Nada, not even to play. So the prison barn human insisted we kiss & make up, and believe it or not we managed to walk together by day 3 . No fighting, nothing. The human still can't believe it.

So, it seems the human ran off somewhere hot n' sunny.

Human says she'll take me next year. The beaches are dog friendly early and late in the day. Maybe next year I'll get to surf too! :)

OK, let's get this straight, I'm a rather large girl and there isn't much that terrifies me - except, vacuum cleaners (!) and this THING:

If you look closely at the pic, you'll see that I'm hiding or should I say READY TO POUNCE should that thing try and hurt my human. That thing makes the weirdest sound too - it's the sound that scares me more than anything, that constant humming...and chopping and things flying out of its side. My mom has accidentally chopped a few of my bones and boy does that get her mad!! She always curses and yells - "OH LOLA!!!! your crazy bones...why can't you bury them properly!??" Another reason to not like THAT THING!

I try and sneak up to it when THE THING is isn't looking. I don't like the fact that Mom spends so much time with it. I don't think she realizes how dangerous it can be.

and here I am in attack mode - just in case!

I sometimes get distracted and was talking to Fred (the groundhog who's home is right under that tree). He told me he hates THAT THING too cuz it eats up all his favourite flowers. Can't say that I blame him. I'd be peeved too if that thing ate my supper every week.

and finally THAT THING shuts up. Awwww....peace & quiet....!

Did you guys hear about the scary skies we've been getting lately up here in the Great White North? EEEK! Ok, for some of you, it's nothing new but let's face it, we're just not use to this type of stuff around here. Seems this type of stuff only happens in tropical areas!

Running Free!

Dudes! I got to run off leash today and woooooweeeee did I give my mom a heart attack!! We went to our usual lil' park (note: dogs are not allowed to run free off leash here) but there's a part in the park where no one goes and when Mom sees there is no one around, she lets me have a go at it..and did I ever GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I flew into the ditch...so at this point I hear Mom yelling me to get out there - it was soooo bushy and crazy...that I just kept running...and then I tried to jump out and WHAM BAM!!! - I hit the steelwire fence and flew back into the ditch. No worries, it didn't hurt...I'm a tuff girl. HA!

Want to know WHY I was running crazy in the bushes (mom just doesn't get it)...it was because of these dudes hanging on to my ears!! WTF!

These flies just stick to me like glue. At one point, mom said I must have had at least 30 of them buzzin' around me head. Man, oh man, the deer flies are really really bad this year! Be careful out there.

We ran into these big guys again. I've got major respect for the horsies. We stare at each other, nod, and we go on our merry way. Horses are cool.

Remember my mom telling you earlier this week that my nose got chapped from me staying at the prison barn? Well, it seems it was more than chapped. The skin got a little wrinkled & bubbly (as if sunburned or something) and now look:

it's a mystery I tell you!

Now mom is wondering... did I bruise it, did I burn it on something (WHAT!???!), or did I just play too hard and too fast? It doesn't hurt when she touches it. Any input of what you think it may be would be appreciated.

So, the weekend begins with me being dropped off at this prison barn. Notice how the horsies get to play outside?? No worries, I get to also. :)

and this is where the human said she went. Some place called 'the big smoke'. Ewww!

So, the human got to spend the weekend with two sweet buddies of mine.

The suitcase is out and I'm not liking what that means...

Human has been running here, there, packing, fixing this, fixing that....says she's only going to be gone for 3 days. Says I'm going to have fun at the horse farm. I mean I do have fun there but I worry about my mom when she's not around. She says it's good for us to have a break now and then..and says it'll toughen me up!

I'd much rather be home doing this..running around my yard with a piece of rope! ;0

Flies are Evil

Deer flies/Horse flies are nasty, nasty bloodsucking critters!

No worries, she had some help.
but check out the humungus long log we inherited when the water came up this spring? they must have known that I'm a BIG TREE hugger! :) Lotsa barking went on when I discovered that I couldn't move it or even chew off any bark. It's a crazy heavy tree I tell you. My mom is also wondering how the heck we're going to get rid of it. I think it's there for good. YAY!

July 1st is Canada Day! Mom took today and tomorrow off. YAY!

I am now chief inspector of our yard. Seems my human got a little hairy scary this past weekend. I didn't see any of it ( I like to stay inside when she's mowing the lawn - not fond of electrical appliances). Anyhoo, here she is mowing the lawn at great speed and I hear a SQUEAL....next thing ya know, she is running up to the deck, opens the door, and says LOLA, get your A$$ out there!! Whoa, mama, what the hey is up? I was taking a nice nappy in A/C....

and she's going on and on about this lil' guy* (he apparently looked just like the one in this picture):

are you all rolling your eyes!? She has a HUMUNGUS fear of them and I tell ya my mama isn't afraid of much but show her a slippery lil' guy like the one above and she's all over the place.

So, now, she promises to mow the lawn on a regular basis (before it gets too long). I am to be beside her at all times in the yard and she's saying I should welcome the kitties in the yard so they can catch them slippery guys. I'm telling ya those snakes aren't stupid. They're hanging out here cuz they know no kitties come in this yard when I'm around.

Wonder what she'd do if I caught one !? HA!

Well, I've been laying sorta low lately on the blog scene while Mom does this, does that, and I basically follow her everywhere. We've been spending LOTS of time in the garden, kicking up the pool, cleaning, shopping (!) *ahem* - that's one activity she does without me!!

So, she thought it would be nice for me to share one of my older videos (my sister Roxy, my fur mom Nikki, and some good buddies of mine are in here too)!
